Locking asseblies are mainly used to substitute single key and spline and to realize the connection between machine parts(such as gear, flywheel and belt wheel etc.) and shaft on order to transmit load. When it is used, the clamping pressures are generated against the inner and outer rings by tigntening locking bolt to produce a pressure and the frictional force between the contacting area so as to realize the transmission torque and hold axial force or compound.Locking assemblies are a new kind of connecting device as an advanced basic mechanical parts. It is widely applied in machine equipments in various industry. Comparing with tight fits connection and key joint, locking accemblies have many unique advantages as follows:
a)The use of locking assemblies make the maunfacture and installation of machine parts very easy and simple. The shaft and bore where the locking assemblies are fixed don't need high precision tolerance in tight fits. Heating, cooling or pressing device is not needed. You only need tightening the locking bolt with appropriate torque. The adjustment is easy, wheel hut can be also easily adjusted to required position on the shaft. Sometimes locking assemblies can also be used to connect part which have poor welding character.
b)Locking assemblies have a long service life and high intensity. It depends on the friction force to transmit load, thus the intensity of the work piece connected will not be weaken by keyway on it. Since there is not relative movement, no wear of the work piece will be made.
c)When working in condition of overload, it will lose connecting function to protect the equipment from damages.
d)Locking assemblies can bear multiple load and ite structure have various types. A number of locking assemblies could be used together with according to the bearing load.
e)Locking assemblies are easy to assembly and disassemble, and have good interchangeability. Since locking assemblies can join the shaft and hub that hasbig fitting clearance, the work pieces can be easy to disassembly by loosening the locking bolt. Because locking assemblies fit tightly around the shaft/hub, the contact surface is hard to be rusted, and it is convenient to disassembly.
Presently, locking assembies are widely applied in varioue kinds of equipments such as weaving machines, packing machines, metalurgy machines etc.
